Where Did All the Workers Go? How Can We Get Them Back?

Today’s post comes to us from Workforce Institute Executive Director, Dr. Chris Mullen, Ph.D., SHRM-SCP, SPHR and features a conversation with Workforce Institute board member, John Frehse.

They’re back for another installment of what John calls “No Suits, No Slides!”

I love this series from board member John Frehse, senior managing director at Ankura, and Dave Gilbertson, a vice president at UKG leading the monthly UKG Workforce Activity Report initiative.

There’s so much going on in the economy right now as we think about COVID-19’s impact on retention, turnover, and hiring, as well as the challenges of taking care of our people regardless of whether they work remotely or in a physical workplace.

In this wide-ranging conversation, John and Dave explore what’s changed since their first discussion in August, why it wasn’t the federal unemployment benefits keeping people out of work, what can be done to get people back, and socks. Yes, socks. (You’ll just have to watch.)
